Why the crossing edges are the only interesting number
Every other figure rises when a property talks more about itself. A crossing edge is an assertion made by one property whose other end a different property defines — it exists only when two independently published records agree about a third thing. Press the toggle and what is left is the estate as a network rather than as a set of filing cabinets.
