Agentic Web vs the Web We Have
The agentic web is the web made addressable to autonomous agents: capabilities expressed as verbs a machine can call, identity and authority a machine can verify, and prices and policies a machine can read. Where today’s web asks a person to interpret a page, the agentic web asks an organisation to publish a machine-readable interface so an agent needs no human in the loop except for consent.
Verbs, not departments
A capability an agent can use is a verb — quote, book, refund — not an org chart. A machine cannot act on "Sales"; it can act on "quote". Designing an organisation’s machine interface around the actions it actually offers is the difference between a page an agent scrapes and an interface it calls.
Why it is not Web3
The agentic web is not a token network and does not require a blockchain. It is the ordinary internet — domains, HTTP, well-known paths — made legible to machines, with an accountability layer added on top. It composes with existing standards rather than replacing them.

Questions
Is the agentic web the same as the semantic web?
No. The semantic web described data meaning for search; the agentic web describes capabilities, authority and payment so an agent can act, not merely read.
Do I need blockchain for the agentic web?
No. Settlement can be chain-neutral. What is required is machine-readable capability, verifiable authority, and records a third party can check.
